In the olden days, ancient warriors used tattoos to intimidate their adversaries. One of the many tribes that used this was the Celts. They held war in high regard, and went to them bare-chested, if not naked. These became canvasses for their tattoo artists, who used the woadplant, whichproduced blue ink for the drawing process.First used as battle ink, Celtic tattoos have gained more and more popularity throughout the ages. 

Common tattoos of Celtic peoples include symbols. One is the Triskelion, which looks like three legs. It symbolizes rivalry and the progression of man. Another style to consider is the Triquetra, which means “three corners” in Latin. It depicts nature, spirit, and the universe. You can also try the Triple Spiral, which illustrates the relationship of mother, maiden and crone. Another choice to think about is the Single Spiral, which indicates energy, birth, growth and the development of a person’s knowledge. The Double Spiral is another good choice from the many tattoos of Celtic symbols, as it stands for harmony and balance. There’s also the Arwen, otherwise known as the “Three Rays.” The first and last rays symbolize male and female power, while the middle rays show the harmony between the sexes.
