^ maybe...probably. i've been in a few that have been refunded but the entire contest disappears so i can't go back and check if there were less than 10 entries. not being able to see the other designs is like artist blue balls. all that anticipation and no satisfaction. i suggested placing the refunded contests in the completed section, just with no winning entry picked. i must be wrong about extensions. that guarantee must only applie to refunds since i see extension after extension. i miss the days when 15 days seemed like a long time to wait for a contest to end...

I don't mean to call out any contest holder specifically but there is a perfect example if you look up 'New School Angel' . This contest started July 5--today is August 6th and there are now 15 more days EXTRA added on to this contest that already has 72 entries --THREE pages of high rated designs by various artists and it is only $50.00. There hasn't been any extra feedback given and the contest description hasn't changed in the last 15 days. I know people want the perfect design but for that price you are already getting above and beyond what that 50 dollars would ever get you at a tattoo shop. This kind of takes the 'contest' aspect out of the site and turns you all into hardworking custom artists in limbo who are getting 0 pay, 0 feedback, and no gratification. By the 5th extension I would have suggested they at least just pick a design and work with one person on the design transfer page to 'perfect' it or ?

Same as the Elk and stream one. That's on its 3rd or 4th and has 69 entries. I'm glad I'm not in that one. Seems that even the smallest design requests take me a few hours to come up with a design, draw, scan, clean up. The larger ones take days to do, but I don't think the contest people understand the amount of time and effort it takes. The payoff doesn't seem to be worth it. Especially when they drag on. I have time in summer, but come fall, I think I'm out.

The problem is many contest holders seem to change their mind once they see entries.. Their design idea changes which therefore makes them rethink their design proposal.. In cases like this they shouldn't be aloud extensions in my opinion...

It really has become very frustrating the amount of extensions being given. I agree with all that has bee.n said.
It can be pretty hard to take at times and this led to me to not competing for a while. But this time around as I compete again I have decided that if a competition gets extended more than once after all criteria has been met I will be withdrawing my entries from that particular competition. This at the end of the day will probably only harm me but I feel that as artists we put an awful lot of effort into these competitions. Many times for no reward. I really think that if there are rules on extensions and number of entries they should be adhered to.
