| Artistic Freedom Snowboard Armband - get inspired and show me what you got. | $120.00 | 47 | Completed |
Description:
I want this tattoo to be an armband wrapping around my upper arm. About 3-3.5 in. high by 13in long. (easy way to measure... use a normal 8x12 piece of letter paper. fold it in half the length wise. Just a little smaller height wise and a little longer length wise)
Some ideas I have had:
1) snowboard goggles with cool design, and in the lens, a reflection of a snowboarder, mountains, ect. Maybe just the a sillouette.
Idea 2) Maybe some mountains wrapping around entire arm, and different snowboarder postions all around.
Idea 3) Something totally different. If you're inspired to draw something else, GO FOR IT. Artistic Freedom. I'm up for anything.
As for color, I'm fine with just black, but depending on the design, color should be added only where it needs to be to make it stand out.
Don't want an extreme amount of detail. I know it's gonna be a small tattoo heightwise, and I want this to last and look good for a lifetime.
Words or phrase can be added only if it's gonna fit the tattoo, again, up to the artist.
I've included a photo that was the inspiration for this tattoo. I looked at it and saw a snowboarder possibly boarding down my shoulder somehow, and thought, what could someone else see.
I'll be checking the site daily and will give lots of comments to guide artists in the right direction.
Additional Details:
- Gender: Female
- Size: 13 x 3 inches
- Detail: Medium
- Winning artist must provide stencil / line work at completion of contest
Appended Description (January 30 2010 11:42pm):
After looking at the first two submissions... and thinking about... the mountains are pretty important. It's where I first learned how to snowboard and fell in love with it. (Fernie, B.C.) Sadly I haven't been back to the mountains since then, but I've always wanted to go back now that I'm a better boarder.
Appended Description (January 31 2010 5:04pm):
I don't know if it's at all possible, but a 3rd idea I had last night, was of just a board and the bindings maybe somehow wrapped around my arm. Don't know if it's possible or not.
Again, I'll leave it up to you all. The sky's the limit when it comes to creating this tattoo.
I wanna see everything!!
Good Luck.
Appended Description (February 3 2010 12:08pm):
Maybe another idea.
In a pair goggles, have the boarder holding the board looking out at the challenge ahead of him/her. Extreme mountains or something. This would also work not even in the goggles. Maybe might even be better.
Or 1 boarder coming down hill with mountains in background with a lot of being kicked up behind, and in there, (the snow being kicked up) a word or two.
Just throwing out some more ideas.

Alright as far as narrowing it down... This is the way it is so far. There's about 1 hour and 45 minutes left, but this will be the last time I can check before I gotta go to work, and probably won't be able to comment or narrow it down any further before the contest closes.
Thanks again guys for all your hard work. It is very much appreciated. I've got a very tough decision and I'm gonna need some time to think this over. |

As this contest comes to a close tomorrow, I just wanna thank everyone for the amazing designs that were submitted. You each have a special talent and it shows in your work.
If I could pick more than one design, I know I would. But reality is, I can't. You all have been able to capture what I was looking for, with each person's design be truly unique in it's own way. So thanks, again, everyone, for all the hard work you've put into these designs over the last couple weeks. I've got a very hard decision to make, and will probably need a few days for sure, to think it over. I hope you will all be around again in the future months when I'll probably be on here wanting another one. Thanks again guys. This was an awesome two weeks. |

On the armband, The way the writing is placed in drawing it in the back . When you go and have your tattoo done. I would like to suggest that you have the "LET IT SNOW". Start by the frame of the glasses, So people can see it. Instead of under your arm. What do you think ? Doober or Debora or Debbie. |

Great submissions so far guys.
I'm still not sure if I'm going to go with the goggle look or the scenic look yet. Still deciding. Hoping to get a couple more looks at some different ideas, and hopefully within the next few days or so, I can start narrowing it down more. But awesome stuff so far. Thanks, it's not going be an easy decision. |

dastardlyThird idea |

I am not sure the third idea would work very well. you could draw a sick snowboard. It would look good flat on the paper. Once it is put around the arm there will be a line of sight issue. I know you can draw. if you draw a rough snow board longways on a peice of paper than roll it so the ends meet you will see what i mean. I am not trying to be rude and shoot down your ideas but i would hate for you to fall in love with a design like that then run into that issue when you showed your artist.
