TMcCanno, that's a pretty wicked piece there. Maybe a little too abstract though. I'm looking for more detail. Starla, you have a good idea going and I think if you would "horror" it up a little you may have it.

Ok, I put a reflection of a sunrise in the visors. I hope it is subtle enough. I know that you weren't into the flowers and butterflies so I tried to do something a little different.

In second thought, I'm going to go ahead and try using the M40A1 U.S. gas mask. I don't really want to use a gas mask from the 30's to represent something of current times.

I'm going to take a stab at this. The horror scene is more of my department but I'm no stranger to gas masks. I'm assuming you want more of an eerie old style gas mask as opposed to the modern gas masks that we actually use overseas today? Seeing as how our current gas masks are more visor than anything. I'm not military but I am a military wife so I have a mild amount of insight. Hopefully I can get something submitted in time.
And 10MTN-INF, no need to comment negatively on other artists ideas. I can understand your reasoning but I've done plenty of flower based tattoos for the boys on my base. Your comment just seemed a little unnecessary. Yes, this site is meant to be competitive but no need to comment on the ideas of others. That is the contest holder's job.

@mrsinister I don't mean to offend or shoot down your idea, but I highly doubt any soldier would want to have the tattoo you just described.

Other artists aren't able to see what designs others submitted. Otherwise that would defeat the purpose of holding a contest.

Thanks Robert. You have an interesting idea with the butterfly thing and glad my idea has inspired in any way. As for your entry, it almost seems too positive trying to look dark. What I'm leaning towards is straight up dark and you can't really tell there's something positive to it until I point it out, ya know. I don't know if you're able to see the other entry I have on here but if you can, that's more what I'm thinking.

Idea to talk about would be a soldier from your tour of duty wearing a gas mask standing in a bed of roses or other flowers, or holding a butterly in one hnd and an assault rifle in the other looking down at the butterfly. Talk to me about it. I know this is short notice but even if the time runs out id like to do your design because your idea is inspiring me. By the way, my name is Robert.
