Consider a symbol?
January 19 2011 4:44pm
Would you consider symbolizing your brother with something like your shared zodiac sign with his initials?
your wrist
January 19 2011 12:57pm
yes, you have one. =) They are all pretty much the same looking.
placement not a good idea
January 19 2011 12:54pm
I agree with NaniArt & Enviedesigns. A tattoo with this much lettering at this size **WILL** run together over time. It is not a "might" issue, it certainly will. Just because someone says their tattoo looks good a year later, doesnt mean it will still be readable 5 or 10 years from now. Ink CONTINUOUSLY spreads, not just for the first year, but for life. Yes it is a slow process.

I know you want it on your wrist but for another option I would suggest over you heart. You would able to have larger text and will last longer. But it is really up to you.

Your tattoo

Yes , if you do go too small in a few years it can run together . In my opinion as a tattoo artist myself , get something with more of an open style. Yet always remember i, it is your body and you have to wear it , no one else . Much respect!

If you could, post a picture of your wrist. A nice, clean, and as well lighted as possible picture. I can mess around with it and post a picture of what the tattoo might look like...

well..

my bubble has officially been busted but i guess im glad that im hearing this before i take it to an artist. my parents have never been for tattoos but since it is for my twin brother that passed..the couldn't say no. the only requirement was that it had to be easily hidden. I could put it some where else on my body but it not for people to see, its for me to look at when i want to. i chose the wrist because i could hide it with a watch when necessary. if it needs to be bigger than planned, thats fine but it still needs to try and stay somewhat small.

I was not trying discourage him from getting the tattoo. I am a tattoo artist and was merely voicing the same concerns any other artist would in getting something this small and detailed. I just thought he should be aware of some issues that arise with small tattoos.

And the tattoo WILL run. Ink spreads, it's the nature of the beast. Which is why most tattoo artist will not tattoo faces smaller than a quarter. The larger the tattoo, the less apparent this spreading is.

This is in respone to NaniArt's comment. Yes somethng with this much wording 'MIGHT' run together depending upon the size of your wrist and the size of the tattoo. Now I have a memorial tattoo on my ankle that I wanted to me somewhat small and my artist wouldn't go that small. So mine is about 1 in tall by 3 in wide on my ankle. Its about the size of my palm.. (yes I have small hands). Now i have had this tattoo for a little over a year now and i've taken good care and thus far not much fading has taken place. I had red done in my tatt that yes its faded because it was such a small area, but I do have little detail in my tat that have somewhat ran together but you can still make out easily what the design is.

So y es, while there may be some issues, don't be afraid of what another says on here. Take the design to your artist and see what they can do, or even what they recommened and then talk to the artist whose design you chose and work with them to have it sized right for you.

I can completely understand you wanting something small enough to cover up, but here is some food for thought.

Something that small with that much wording would end up running together and blurring in a few short years. It's just the nature of tattoos.

Or, it would need to be tattooed with a single needle which means it will not hold very well and the ink will fall out or it will just fade extremely fast. And the fact that you may be covering it with a watch band that will rub against it will only make it fade quicker.

Just thought you might want to keep that in consideration. I'm sorry to hear about your brother and I think it's great that you are getting a memorial.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'll see what I can do with it to personalize it for you still.

sorry but no

he actually passed away a birth so i was never able to see him so i just wanted to get a small tattoo in rememberance of him. i just thought his name and a bible verse would suffice.
Question
January 7 2011 11:06pm
Is there something special about your brother you remember most. A moment, maybe his zodiac.. something to kinda personalize this a touch more, to definitely give it that more unique edge?
bikeriderblake    Contest Holder
not bad..
January 7 2011 2:16am
I kinda liked the third one but i feel like it's too plain jane...and i did like the seventh one but i feel like it would run together after having the tattoo for a while. Thanks for the entry!
