Thanks for the question. Ideally, I'd prefer not to have any weapons in the design. Given the theme, I guess that might be difficult, so maybe the odd pistol I guess!

Are weapons ok in the design??

The image of Veronica Lake (#5) is something I think I would like included. Image #3 is more of an example of the style/feel I'm looking for, and #6, although initially intended as an example, I quite like the idea of a glamourous, troubled jazz singer with old style microphone, so if you can squeeze that into a piece, that would be cool. Thanks :)

Hi there. I've been researching images and preparing to start drawing. In your reference pics, are the characters in #1, #3, #5, and #6 ladies that you definitely want in your design? Or did you post them as examples of the film noir style? Thank you :-)

Extension?

Please, please extend your contest. I would love to submit a design for you, but I'm only just now seeing the contest.

Thanks

Many thanks for the comments. It kind of did occur to me that because what I'm after requires quite a bit of imagination I might not be snowed under with entries. I'll see about extending things a little longer.

We are scared.........help!
This is pathetic!
September 8 2012 7:10am
You have a cool, original idea and only two entries?! That's terrible! I have been busy with other non-tattoo design projects, and I just saw your contest. I don't have any time until Monday to work on it, though. If you would like to, extend your contest for a week and I'll check back on Monday and start drawing you something.
forearm tattoo sleeve
September 7 2012 12:46pm
Hi,
I just entered your new future tattoo sleeve.I am aware that you can only fit so much in a forearm tattoo sleeve as it is only half a sleeve but I did manage ti fit Quite some peices in and hope you enjoy them and if you dont have anything on your Upper sleeve Then you can Always go upper...Hopefully I will be that future artist..lol
well enjoy and remember to comment as many artist tend to shy away from actual art work...You can tell from lack of submissions, but if it was skulls or some photoshop type of theme there would be like 30 submissions by now....anyways.........

THANK -YOU

I've been busy measuring my forearm circumference (measurements in inches, with centimetres in brackets): wrist - 6.5" (16.5), middle - 8.8" (22.0), top (just below the bendy bit) - 11.0" (28.0), total forerm length (wrist to elbow) - 10" (25.0).

can you measure the circumference of the top, middle, and bottom of your forearm? thanks!
September 3 2012 3:08pm
no, you're totally speaking my language! love veronica lake btw. one thing, though, i'm concerned about making the images too small- tattoos tend to blur with age so small details will be lost. how about two major characters, male and female, and then some background characters mostly in silhouette? i will get to sketching, so i can show you something instead of just gabbing about it! haha. cheers, a

Pointless subject line filler
September 3 2012 5:04am
That's no problem, I'd definitely rather have you ask loads of questions if it helps. I'm not really looking for specific characters/images from the influences I've chosen, but like you say - it's more a style/feel thing. I've uploaded a few images that hopefully get across the dark, moody noir style I'm looking for - but basically it's pretty much free reign to come up with your own characters/situations. That said, I do like the whole Veronica Lake look (see images) as a kind of femme fatale, the black and white image with red lips thing, and a series of smaller images rather than one big one? Hopefully this isn't all a big mash up of totally random ideas, and actually makes some kind of sense!
September 2 2012 11:41pm
i'm sorry i did see that you'd mentioned those when i first read your description, i just had a brain blank when i revisited. i meant to ask, do you want the specific characters from these films/ graphic novels or if you just want the style/feeling represented? in other words, can i make up my own situation/ characters? cheers!

Re yes yes etc.. ;)
September 1 2012 9:53am
Thanks, it would be good if you could get some inspiration from LA Confidential, The Black Dahlia, The Blue Dahlia, Blade Runner and Dark City. As mentioned, the video game LA Noire (and it's soundtrack), and to a certain extent the feel and imagery of Bioshock, and the dark Batman and Marcel noir series comics. A few google image searches on these should hopefully give some idea of what I'm thinking.
yes yes yes

Re: Hi
August 30 2012 11:51am
Thanks for your interest. I'm not looking for generic film stuff - masks/reels etc thrown together, more a piece, or series of pieces in a dark, noir style.
August 29 2012 2:45pm
Would you mind a mix of things tht have to do with films such as film reels, the mask faces, tribal designs, props from the movies you chose? let me know so when i create my sketch i can mix them in together.
