This week our spotlight is on one of our many talented artists, Hector Guma Jr.

Hector is a professional artist who was born and raised in New York city. According to Hector, he fell in love with drawing when he was only 6 years old. His grandfather was a well known painter from Puerto Rico and a left-hand artist just like Hector. As a teenager, Hector  attended an art school for gifted teenagers called Art and design H.S in New York and continued his passion in art in many mediums from acrylic oil to water colors. Hector’s favorite style that he enjoys doing the most is photo realism and fantasy art. Hector loves challenges!

As a young adult, he attended the art college called F.I.T(Fashion Institute of Technology) from where he received a degree in illustration. At the age of 24, he met a local tattooist from Brooklyn New York by the name of Larry Rotundo who was a tattoo veteran with almost 30 years of experience. Hector trained under him for about two years in tattooing and after his apprenticeship, Larry told Hector that he was a gifted artist and had a natural flair for tattooing.

Inspired, Hector moved on in his tattooing career and created his own collection of flash designs and more. He now has 17 years of tattooing experience and his work was featured in Urban Ink magazine’s tattoo revue, skin art, envy, and more. He insists that his true passion is art and making his clients happy with every unique drawing he creates for them.

Hector currently owns a reputable tattoo shop in Cartersville, Georgia for 12 years now and is still going strong due to the support of his loyal clients and friends.
